Friday the 13th (2009)

So I just got done watching the new Friday the 13th which is come out on Blu-ray and DVD on June 16th. Now I'm a big fan of the Friday the 13th series and have watched them since I was a little boy. I have seen all of the movies and yes even Jason X which is the worst one. So I know the franchise pretty well and I have to say that I like this movie. It was not a bad movie but was not great one on the other hand. The point of me writing up this is that I have some points and issues that I have and would change with the movie.
So lets start with the beginning of the movie which shows us the ending of Friday the 13th the original movie. At the end the mother of Jason has her head cut off by the last camp counselor. When then see her on a boat in the lake and then Jason pops out to pull her down. She then wakes up in the hospital and ask where is the boy but nobody seen him. Now in the new movie we see Jason in the bushes watching his mother and the counselor fight. Jason see's his mother died and then it goes the modern time. Even his mother states that he drowned but yet he is alive. Now it never shows in part II that Jason comes back alive and comes out of the lake to get revenge. So it could have been that he never died but was just bent on revenge. My problem with this opening is that they changed the original. It would have be much better to use the original footage and then just start the movie. But they did this so that they can reboot the series as this is the beginning. The only thing I see wrong with this is now he appears as a mutant hillbilly more then a undead serial killer bent on revenge that the series has become.
The next part I would have changed is that it did not take place in Camp Crystal Lake but by it instead. Yes they do go to the camp to look around but nothing more then that. They should done what part II done and make the kids re-open the camp.
But there is some good parts to the movie and my favorite is at the end when they throw him in the lake. Now why did then not just leave him and call the police is beyond me. But we see a dead jason in the lake but then pop out to grab the chick.
Another great part is when Jason gets his hockey mask. Yes he finally gets rid of that towel or what ever it was and puts on the mask that would define his character

Wait Crunchberries Are Not Real! WTF

U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California dismissed a complaint filed by a woman on May 21, who said she had purchased "Cap'n Crunch with Crunchberries" because she believed "crunchberries" were real fruit. The plaintiff, Janine Sugawara, just learned that the berries were not fruit but just brightly-colored ceral balls. "She sued, on behalf of herself and all similarly situated consumers who also apparently believed that there are fields somewhere in our land thronged by crunchberry bushes."

Reasonable Consumer Would Know "Crunchberries" Are Not Real, Judge Rules

Judge Morrison England, Jr., also pointed out that the plaintiff acknowledged in her opposition to the motion to dismiss that "close inspection of the box reveals that Crunchberries . . . are not really berries." What is the world coming to when we can sue a cereal company over the contains. It is a sign on the times.

XBLA is getting Perfect Dark later this year

Major Nelson just posted on his twitter page "Just saw Perfect Dark on XBLA running 1080p. It is coming to XBLA this winter. Free theme coming tomorrow!". This was originally for N64 and now will be on XBLA. I owed this game on the N64 and loved it. If you like Goldeneye then you will love this one. It is created by Rare which also made Goldeneye.
